Last year, sometime around March (2012), I learned that I needed to go to a gluten free lifestyle for health reasons. The first three weeks were absolutely the worst as my body was detoxing and getting used to living with out gluten. I’ve learned that even the smallest crumb can cause adverse side effects in your body so I do everything in my power to avoid eating it and I certainly am not going to put anything with gluten on my new Big Green Egg!
So I am getting ready to start trying out some gluten free baking and want to try some recipes. Pizza is one of my favorite foods and while there are a few gluten free frozen pizzas out there on the market, I really want to try cooking a gluten free grilled pizza on my Big Green Egg very soon….I thought I would go ahead and share a few links that I found and I will let you know when I try them each out.
- Click Here for a Rustic Recipe from the Bee Cave Kitchen – The toppings didn’t sound too appeasing to my taste buds on this one, BUT, that doesn’t mean you won’t like it – it just may not be the first one I try out.
- Click Here for an easy recipe from Gluten Free on A Shoestring – This one looks like a really good crust and pretty simple to make! I think I will try this one first.
- Click Here for a recipe from The Fountain Avenue Kitchen – This one looked good but it called for a lot of ingredients for the crust.
There are certainly other things I would like to “bake” on my egg, but I think I will start out with pizza. What about you??? Have you tried any pizzas or any other kind of baking on your Big Green Egg – and what was your ‘egg’sperience??? Don’t forget you can go here to submit your ‘egg’sperience on our site.
